Maniero Montecassiano in the Marken? Anyone who thinks of a wedding in Italy usually has Tuscany, Lake Como, or the Amalfi Coast in mind. The resorts are located a little further east, between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, and are still a real discovery for many couples. Gentle hills, medieval mountain towns, olive groves and vineyards characterize the landscape, and the sea is never far away. In the middle of this region, near the city of Macerata, lies the Maniero Montecassiano: a boutique villa that deliberately focuses on only a few weddings per year.

I have the wedding of L. & C. in Maniero Montecassiano in 2026 photographed, over an entire weekend. In this post, you’ll learn everything you need to know about your wedding at Maniero Montecassiano: location, size, facilities, costs, planning, an example schedule for a wedding weekend, and my tips as a wedding photographer for your photos on-site.

Maniero Montecassiano at a glance: size, rooms and number of guests
Maniero Montecassiano is exclusively rented out on an exclusive basis and is located on a private estate with four hectares of land. When you get married here, the villa belongs to you and your guests for the weekend, without any other hotel guests or parallel events.
The villa has eight bedrooms and six bathrooms and can accommodate up to 18 overnight guests. There is also an apartment with one bedroom, a bathroom and a living room opposite. There is usually plenty of space for the bride and groom, their closest family and the witnesses to the wedding. Up to 100 guests can be entertained.
Around the main house there is a property with lots of greenery and more than 400 olive trees. In addition, there is a 20-meter swimming pool, a private padel court, a beach volleyball court, an indoor arcade, a sauna and a Jacuzzi, a pizza oven and a playground. The villa is therefore much more than just a beautiful setting for a single day. It is a place where you want to spend several days together.
The Maniero is personally run by the hosts Amber and Fabrizio. I got to know the two of them on site: they are warm, open and creative, and they really understand the role of a host. You immediately feel welcome among them.

Only ten events per year: Why you should book early for a wedding at Maniero
One detail distinguishes the Maniero Montecassiano from many others Wedding locations in Italy. The hosts only take on about ten groups a year because they want to fully participate in every celebration. This makes the villa personal, but also cramped.
The wedding seasons 2027 and 2028 are already fully booked (According to the website information of the locationTherefore, anyone wishing to get married in Maniero Montecassiano should plan to wait two to three years. A deposit of 30 percent is required to reserve a date.
For comparison: couples usually book me as a photographer between three and a year before the wedding, sometimes even one and a half to two years in advance. Since I work closely with wedding planners, a lead time of about nine months is the most common situation for me. With a villa like Maniero, the location is the bottleneck, not the service providers. My advice: secure the date at the villa first and then book your team in peace.
Location of Maniero Montecassiano: Between hills and the Adriatic Sea

The villa is located in Montecassiano, in a small medieval town in the province of Macerata. Important because it is often confused: Montecassiano in the Marche has nothing to do with Montecassino and the famous monastery south of Rome. So if you are looking for Maniero, you should pay attention to the correct spelling.
The surroundings are typical of the Marken: hills that stretch out to the horizon, fields, olive groves and mountain villages that rise up on the hillsides. It is only about 25 minutes to the Adriatic Sea. If you like, you can combine the wedding weekend with a few days at the seaside.
Getting to Maniero Montecassiano: Ancona, Rome and Perugia
The The nearest airport is Ancona Falconara, about 40 kilometers or 40 minutes by car away. After Perugia it is about 117 kilometers, and after Rome about 250 kilometers. From Rome you should expect a journey of about two and a half to three hours.
For guests from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, depending on the departure airport, either Ancona or Rome is an option. My tip: Give your guests an overview of both options early on and plan for a rental car or shuttle for Rome. If you arrive via Rome, you usually won’t arrive until the afternoon, so the welcome event shouldn’t start too early.

Accommodations for wedding guests around the Maniero
With up to 100 wedding guests and 18 beds in the villa, a large proportion of your guests will be staying outside. Maniero works with partner hotels nearby to accommodate this: Relais La Colombaia, a modern boutique hotel about ten minutes away, and the four-star Villa Quiete hotel in the historic center of Montecassiano, just four minutes from the villa.
The short distances are a real advantage. Your guests don’t have to travel long distances in the evening, and shuttles are easy to arrange. Still, plan for a fixed shuttle for the return journey after the party, so that no one has to drive themselves after the last drink.

Wedding in the Marken: Why the region is a good alternative to Tuscany
The brands offer many things that couples travel to Tuscany for: hill landscapes, historical sites, good food and wine. At the same time, they are significantly less crowded. You encounter fewer tour groups on the streets, in the villages, and at the viewpoints, and the region feels more authentic.
This also becomes apparent in terms of price. An exclusively rented villa with this level of equipment is hardly still available at a reasonable price in Tuscany or on the Amalfi Coast. This is consistent with what I observe at weddings in Italy: The well-known regions are expensive and fully booked, while the brands still have room to maneuver.
There is plenty to discover for your guests in the area around Maniero. Macerata with its old town is very close, as is Recanati, the birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi. If you feel like going to the sea after the wedding day, head to the coast, for example to the Riviera del Conero south of Ancona.
If you’re still deciding between different regions, it’s worth taking a look at other locations in Italy, such as Villa Eva in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast. The atmosphere there is completely different, and comparing them helps you find the right one for you.
Best time of year for a wedding in the Marken
L. & C. got married at the beginning of July, and the weather was perfect: warm, dry, and with long, bright evenings. Summer in the Marken is the classic time for weddings. If you prefer a milder climate, you can look at May, June, or September. Then the temperatures are more pleasant, and the landscape is especially green in early summer.
Heat in July and August: What you should plan for your guests
In July and August, it can get very hot during the day. Therefore, do not have the wedding in the scorching midday sun and provide shade, water, and perhaps umbrellas or sunshades for your guests. Older guests will thank you for that. And it’s also more pleasant for your photos if no one stands in the sun with their eyes squinted.

The Villa in detail: What makes Maniero Montecassiano a special wedding location
Interior spaces with design appeal and plenty of natural light
The Maniero is a restored historic property, but inside it is modern and designed with great attention to detail. The hosts describe their style themselves as design with a Dutch touch.
What immediately caught my attention on-site was the incredibly diverse and artistic interior design. In every corner there is something to discover that is truly artsy—whether it’s a special piece of furniture, a color, a work of art, or an intriguing lighting effect. Many rooms are flooded with natural light. This is ideal for getting ready, as natural light softens skin tones and brings images to life.
For your guests, this means that the villa is not a neutral backdrop; it has character. Those with a penchant for design will feel right at home here.
The Allee to the Olive Tree: A place of union with symbolic power
One of the most beautiful places on the property is a driveway that leads to a large, old olive tree. It is exactly there that L. & C. exchanged their vows in a civil ceremony.
The location works on several levels. The avenue provides a natural stage for the entrance: the guests sit on the left and right, the view automatically leads to the tree. In Italy, the olive tree is a symbol of permanence and peace, which fits well with a marriage vow. And photographically, this results in a clear line that organizes the image without anything needing to be staged.
Pool, Padel and Arcade: a program for your wedding guests
The Maniero is deliberately designed to be a place to have fun. The hosts cater to couples who want a real Italian wedding weekend: good food, Aperol, lots of laughter, and no rigid routines.
Between the welcome evening and the wedding day, your guests have plenty to do: swimming in the 20-meter pool, a match on the paddle tennis court, beach volleyball, or a few rounds in the arcade. For families with children there is a playground. It sounds like a small detail, but it’s not. Especially for destination weddings, many guests don’t know each other beforehand. Common activities bring them together, and that’s what you feel on the wedding day.
Accessibility: Ground floor rooms for elderly guests
The Maniero has bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor. If grandparents or guests with reduced mobility are staying at the villa, this is an important point. It is best to discuss the room distribution directly with the hosts.

What a wedding in Maniero Montecassiano costs: Villa rental and all-inclusive package
Concrete prices are rarely publicly available for wedding venues; at Maniero, at least there are guidelines (as of 2026). The price for a villa alone starts at around 16,000 euros. An all-in package starts at around 35,000 euros and includes catering for three days, drinks and wine, flowers, basic styling, wedding planning, and a DJ with cold-fire show for up to 50 wedding guests.
Please take these figures as a guide. Prices may change, and the offer may vary depending on the number of guests, season, and preferences. You can find the current conditions directly via the Official website of Maniero Montecassiano.
Some of my photos of Maniero can also be found on the wedding platform La Lista, if you would like to get a feel for the location beforehand.
Bad weather forecast in Maniero Montecassiano: Book your tent in time
As safe as the summer weather in the Marken is usually, you should still have a plan B. There is a room in the house where about 25 to 40 people can eat and celebrate. That is enough for small weddings as an alternative to rain. For anything beyond that, you need a tent.
They book the tent through an external service provider; the villa works with various providers for this. The location is ideal: the area where the dinner usually takes place is flat and suitable for setting up a tent. My advice: discuss the tent issue early with your planner, rather than nervously checking the weather app in the week before the wedding.
Wedding Planner for your wedding at Maniero Montecassiano
Why a wedding planner is worth it for a destination wedding
L. & C. planned the wedding together Julia Weiss from [ Julia Weiss WeddingsAnd I can say this from experience: A planner on your side makes a wedding abroad incredibly easy. She knows the local service providers, speaks the language, has experience with procedures in Italy, and keeps budget, deadlines, and contracts in mind. Especially if you are planning from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland and maybe only visited the location once or twice beforehand, a planner takes away countless decisions and emails from you.
Those who choose the all-in package for the villa will already be involved in some of the planning. Whether this is enough for you or whether you would like an additional planner depends on how individual your wedding is to be.
Indispensable: A Wedding Day Coordinator on site
Even if you plan many things yourself, you should not do without one thing: a Wedding Day Coordinator who is on site on the wedding day. This person ensures that the schedule is adhered to, talks with the caterer, DJ, and photographer, resolves minor problems before you even notice them, and keeps the process moving forward. You and your family don’t have to organize anything on this day and can simply be there. That is one of the most important reasons why a wedding day goes smoothly.

Testimonial: The wedding of L. & C. at Maniero Montecassiano
Arriving at Pizza and Aperol: The Welcome Evening
L. & C. celebrated a whole weekend at Maniero with 45 guests, and I accompanied them for two days. The opening event was a welcome event with pizza party and Aperol Spritz party, right on the property.
The fact that the welcome evening and the wedding day took place at the same location was a major advantage. The couple lived in the villa and did not have to travel anywhere on any of the two days. Logistically, this is as simple as possible. Guests, service providers, and the couple already know the location after the first evening, and on the wedding day, no one has to orient themselves anymore.
The pizza oven is more than just a backdrop. An evening when fresh pizza comes out of the oven and everyone stands in the garden with a slice in their hand is the exact opposite of formal. It is this relaxed atmosphere that the guests take with them into the next day.

The wedding day under the olive tree
On the wedding day, the alley became the venue for the wedding ceremony, and L. & C. got married under the large olive tree. After that, the aperitivo, dinner, and party flowed seamlessly into one another, all on the property. In addition to the photos, I shot a Super 8 film for the two. More about that below, because Super 8 is something you should know about beforehand.
Wedding weekend instead of wedding day: What a weekend in Italy is all about
I have accompanied around 100 weddings, at least 40 of them in Italy, the rest in Spain, Mexico, England, Ireland, France and Germany. I see again and again what makes a wedding weekend different from a one-day wedding.
The arrival is different. The get-together the night before creates an immediate atmosphere among the guests. They get to know each other, laugh together, and the anticipation for the wedding day builds. A good welcome event is like the intro to a movie or a teaser for your wedding.
On the wedding day itself, this is clearly evident. The guests are relaxed, they consciously enjoy time with their loved ones, and for many it feels like a holiday. In contrast, one-day weddings in Germany often mean that the guests arrive, celebrate, and then return home the same evening, so that they can immediately return to work on Monday. In my experience, weddings abroad are more celebrated, and that is exactly what I find incredibly valuable.
Sample schedule for a wedding weekend at Maniero Montecassiano
There is no exact schedule that fits every wedding. How your weekend looks like depends on how many event elements you plan, how many guests are coming, and what is important to you. However, the general framework has proven itself for weekend weddings. Typically, I spend two to three hours with couples on the welcome dinner on such weekends, ten to twelve hours on the wedding day, and another two to three hours on the final celebration the next day.
Day 1: Welcome event upon arrival
Start with a relaxed get-together, such as a pizza party or an aperitivo in the garden. In Maniero, it is advisable to celebrate the welcome event directly on the property. Alternatively, another location nearby is also suitable. The important thing is that the evening does not start too late and does not last too long. Your guests are tired from the journey, and the wedding day starts early.
Day 2: Getting Ready with Enough Buffer
Plan a generous buffer when getting ready. If the hairstylist takes an hour and a half to do the bride’s hair, that’s the actual working time. Not to mention that someone is looking for something, the bride has to get up again, or she has to chat with the maid of honor and bridesmaids. Perhaps the photographer also wants to pick up the box with the details for a quick moment. In that case, it’ll be more like three hours instead of two and a half.
That sounds like a small thing, but it has an impact on the whole day. If the schedule slips even earlier in the morning, it will be hectic. Your wedding day is, soberly considered, ten to twelve hours with your loved ones, and those hours pass by incredibly quickly. You should be able to enjoy every moment, and that works best without any pressure.
Day 2: Free wedding ceremony, aperitif and couple photos
Your guests are welcomed and asked to take their seats, then the free wedding ceremony follows. After that comes the aperitivo, which is ideal for about an hour and a half. This time usually includes the first couple photos.
Prefer several short shoots spread out over the day rather than one long one. This way you’ll get photos in different light, both outfits, in case the bride changes her mind later on, and you’ll never be away from your guests for long.
Day 2: Dinner, speeches, cake and party
At dinner, there are usually speeches between the courses. After that, the cake is cut; before or after that, there is often a champagne toast, and eventually the party begins. The area of the property gives you plenty of freedom to choose whether you want to have it outdoors or in a tent.
Day 3: Brunch or a pool party to end the day
An after-wedding brunch or a pool party rounds off the weekend. In Maniero, the pool is of course the place to be. Everyone is relaxed; the tension of the wedding day is gone, and you can exchange pleasantries in peace and quiet.

Free marriage in Italy: Flexible, personal and legally separate
What constitutes a free wedding ceremony
With a civil wedding, you are not bound by the fixed times of a church or registry office. If something changes, the wedding can often be moved back a little. Still, it’s not nice when the entire schedule gets out of sync. So, it’s better to plan realistically beforehand than to rely on flexibility.
Important to know: A civil wedding is not legally binding. Therefore, many German couples get married first at the registry office at home and then celebrate the civil wedding in Italy as the actual ceremony with all the guests.

Funeral director or someone from the family?
You can have the ceremony performed by a professional wedding officiant or a wedding officiant from your immediate family. A professional wedding ceremony usually takes half to a quarter of an hour. If someone from the family performs it, it is usually shorter. I have had very good experiences with weddings performed by family members. They are often particularly emotional because the person has known you for years.
If the location specifies the time
Not every location gives you complete freedom at the time. Some villas, such as the Villa Erba At am, they set a fixed time frame for the wedding ceremony. Then the whole day is planned around that date. In Maniero Montecassiano, you have significantly more leeway thanks to exclusive use.
Photo tips for your wedding at Maniero Montecassiano
Getting Ready: Using the Villa's Bright Spaces
The lighting in the rooms at Maniero is perfect for getting ready. Many rooms are flooded with light, and the varied, artistic interior provides exciting background details along the way. You don’t have to worry about dark hotel rooms here. Just choose a room that feels comfortable to you and keep it as tidy as possible so that piles of clothes and bags don’t end up in the picture.
From the Big to the Small: Thinking about Landscape, Architecture, and Spaces Together
My most important tip for your couple photos in the hilly landscape of Marken: Make sure your photographer works from large to small. You will regret it when you end up with only close-ups of yourselves. You deliberately chose this country and this region, so the landscape belongs in your story.
A good wedding photographer brings more to the table than just couple photography. They must be able to read spaces, photograph landscapes and capture architecture, and ideally combine all three in harmony. In Maniero, the entire location is actually suitable for couple photos. The alley, the olive grove, the villa, the interior spaces and the view over the hills offer so many different backgrounds that a varied story can be told from them.
The brands above: drone footage at your wedding
For me, the dimension of air is a big point. On foot, with my camera and certain lenses, I have certain limitations. A drone makes up for that: From the height and bird’s-eye perspective, it shows where you actually are, how the property is embedded in the hills and how small the wedding party seems in this vast landscape. To not fixate on the region and to focus only on what is happening directly in front of the eye would be a missed opportunity for me. The wedding wouldn’t be fully documented.
I fly with a drone pilot's license and a drone registered in the EU. If you want drone footage, ask your photographer or videographer if both are available.
Good lighting is not a question of the time of day
It is often said that couple photos should only be taken at the golden hour. I see it differently. I don’t rigidly adhere to time schedules; with technical know-how and an understanding of light, beautiful images can be captured in almost any situation. So when planning your day, don’t base your decisions on the time of day; base them on what feels right for you.
Super 8 in Maniero Montecassiano: Wedding film as an analog art work
For L. & C., I shot a Super 8 film alongside the photos. Super 8 is something very special to me, and I always tell couples that you have to have fallen in love in Super 8.
There are reasons for this. A Super 8 film is a work of art. It does not cover all the events of the day, and it is not a documentary film with original sound because a Super 8 camera does not record sound. Anyone who wants to listen to the speeches or the wedding vows literally needs a classic wedding film. Additionally, Super 8 is very expensive to produce because film material and development are expensive.
What you get in return is a very specific feeling. The colors, the movement, the flickering of the film create a mood that cannot be replicated digitally. Especially in a setting like Maniero, with olive trees, warm summer sunlight and the Italian landscape, this fits wonderfully. You can find more about it on my page about [internal link: Super-8 wedding films].
Pictures and delivery time: What you can expect after your wedding
After a full-day reportage, my couples usually receive at least 600 to 800 edited images, usually more. How many exactly depends on the day: What are the program highlights, how much happens? A wedding weekend with a welcome event and brunch naturally adds up to more. If there is a second shooter, third shooter, or assistant covering a different perspective, the gallery grows even larger.
Couples usually receive their finished gallery after three to four weeks. In the high season, it can also take a little longer. For me, the gallery is a valuable product that I work on with great care, because these pictures will accompany you for a lifetime. That is why I think it is okay to wait even two weeks longer. So that you don’t end up with empty hands, you always get a sneak peek beforehand, i.e. a preview with the first images. I myself am too curious and full of anticipation to let you wait for weeks.
For whom a wedding at Maniero Montecassiano is suitable
The Maniero suits you if…
… you want to celebrate a multi-day wedding, with time for your guests instead of a crammed schedule. If you enjoy being social, love good food and a relaxed atmosphere, and want your guests to experience a real holiday feeling. And if you’re hosting up to 100 people.
The Maniero doesn't really fit if...
… you are planning a classic palazzo with a city backdrop with well over 100 guests or you want a very formal wedding with strict protocol. Maniero is all about the landscape, ease and privacy.
What I wish for your wedding
The atmosphere is also crucial for me as a photographer. I really appreciate it when there is a festive atmosphere on a wedding day. The dance floor doesn’t have to explode, and you don’t have to be a dancer either. But I love to see people connected well, the atmosphere is relaxed and everyone appreciates the moment. That’s exactly what Maniero is made for.
Frequently asked questions about the wedding at Maniero Montecassiano

Since the villa only hosts around ten events a year and is already booked out for 2027 and 2028, you should plan two to three years in advance.

In partner hotels nearby, for example the Relais La Colombaia, about ten minutes away, or the Hotel Villa Quiete in the town center of Montecassiano, about four minutes away.
Which airport is closest?

Conclusion: Wedding at Maniero Montecassiano – a weekend that feels like a vacation
The Maniero Montecassiano is not a wedding location for everyone, and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Those who get married here don’t get a standard event, but a private estate in the Marken, which belongs to you for an entire weekend. Four hectares of land, over 400 olive trees, a villa with character and hosts who only take on around ten groups a year because they really take the time for every single celebration. In a time when many venues focus on mass events, that has become rare.
The locations themselves are more than just a backdrop. The region offers the hills, mountain villages, and food for which so many couples travel to Tuscany, but without the hustle and bustle and usually at a better price-quality ratio. The Adriatic Sea is just a short half-hour away, and the Ancona airport is about 40 minutes away. Your guests can therefore wonderfully combine their wedding weekend with a few vacation days, and many will indeed do just that.
What impressed me most about the wedding of L. & C. was the atmosphere. The pizza party on the first evening made 45 guests, who didn’t know each other at all, feel like a community. On the wedding day, this was something that was felt in every moment: at the wedding under the olive tree, at the aperitif, at the dinner, and late into the night on the dance floor. That’s exactly the difference between a wedding day and a wedding weekend. The time with your loved ones is not squeezed into a few hours; instead, it has room to breathe.
For this weekend to be as relaxed as it should be, a few things are crucial. Book early, because the villa is booked for years ahead. Bring a planner on board and definitely a wedding day coordinator for the wedding day. Plan generously for the getting ready phase so that the day doesn’t get rushed in the morning. Instead of spending an hour away from your guests, split your couple photos into several short shoots. Consider using shade and water for your guests in summer, and clear up the tent issue for the rain in advance, even if you hope you never need it.
When choosing your photographer, it pays to take a close look. A location like Maniero thrives on its surroundings, its spaces, and its architecture. Anyone who only shoots close-ups is missing out on a big part of your story. Make sure your photographer thinks big and small, brings together landscape, architecture, and people, and, if you wish, also captures the region from the air. And if you’re into analog memories, a Super-8 film is a beautiful addition, provided you’ve fallen in love with this kind of photography.
At the end of the day, a wedding at Maniero Montecassiano is all about something very simple: a few days with the people who are most important to you, in a place where everyone feels comfortable. With good food, honest hospitality, and enough time to truly experience every moment. If that’s exactly what you’re looking for, Maniero is a place you absolutely should check out.
